A different kind of Jewellery
I recently met a Jewellery Designer called Marie. Now you would say, how extraordinary is that? Well, the thing is: her jewels don't really look like mine. "Is that so amazing?" you might ask. Well no, we all have our different styles. But most of all Marie's jewels are "fine jewellery", for the rich and famous one might say. You may or may not like what she designes, but I can tell, she has "talent" and if you can afford it, give it a go :o)...!!!
PS I added a link to her website in the "My Favorite Links" section.
Jewels, Trains and Automobiles
My car broke down recently (and I had to activate my insurance contract signed at the time of the acquisition), making it impossible to do my Internship at Nico Taeymans right now. So I pushed it "back to the future". And so I enjoy the joys again of taking the train, riding my bike (to the supermarket) and walking (to the bakery shop). Who needs a car anyway!
Bracelet for a friend
Thomas, a dear friend, has asked me to design and make an original bracelet. A "watch" without a timing mechanism with just a simple engraved text: "Ook dit gaat voorbij...!" ("Also this goes by...!"). A reflexion on time, a philosphy, a way of life.
I looked at steel, but finally chose for aluminum. Much lighter en pleasant to work with. He likes it, but most importantly, he weares it. What bigger satisfaction for a jewellery designer than to have someone wear your jewels, especially a friend...
Internship at Nico Taeymans' workshop
I just learned that I was accepted to do a 2 weeks internship training at Nico Taeymans' workshop in Antwerp, end of August. Thanks Ingrid for making this possible...!
